been asked to protect windows by a
facade contractor who is going to be
spraying the above product onto the
surface of finished concrete.

from splashes of this coating and I
would like you to check whether this
Clear glaze coating would have any
effect on dry film of WindOcoat
4930. I am also supplying a sample
for them to test in conjunction with
the coating. Product data sheet for
the Clear glaze attached.
Answer : Robert, The overspray,
should not damage WindOcoat 4930.
The clear concrete coating sounds
like an acrylic resin cut in Ketone
and aromatic solvents. The clearcoat
is quite fast in evaporation at 25C.
We are talking about overspray for
direct spray on your Glaze can do
damage. In other words, short
evaporation times of solvent based
coatings, under 2 minutes, will not
damage your Glaze, but prolong
solvent penetration over 4 minutes
can cause a problem.
2.Hello, I am
looking for a sprayable or brushable
translucent coating to protect thin
glass greenhouse panels from
breakage and releasing glass shards
and debris into the greenhouse. What
would you recommend ?
Our Recommendations : Windocoat
4580 is a water based peelable
coating that can be applied to
interior or exterior glass by
airless spray, roller or brush. The
coating cures by water evaporation
and goes from white to clear. Cured,
clear film is water resistant and is
easy to peel from glass.

Our WindOcoat line of temporary
protective peelable coatings are non
hazardous, water based coatings
designed to protect glass, aluminum,
and other non porous surfaces during
transportation and installation in
addition to the potential damage
throughout the construction process.
These coatings are resistant to
paint, concrete splatter, scratch
and minor impact damage. They can be
used indoors and out and can remain
pliable and peelable for extended
periods of time.
These coatings are applied via
airless sprayer, roller, or brush.
When no longer needed they can be
peeled in a sheet or power washed
off and discarded with no
environmental impact. They contain
no VOC’s and are biodegradable.
One gallon will cover approximately
20 to 22 square meters. We do offer

1. On 20/12/09 - Applied windocoat
on glass and put in open unsheltered
area subject to weather condition
2. On 23/12/09 - Applied grade 35
concrete stain and put in open
unsheltered area subject to weather
condition
3. On 31/12/09 – Windocoat easily
peeled off from glass surface. The
glass surface condition looks good.
4. Another sample is still put under
open unsheltered area subject to
weather condition and will arrange
to peel off on 14/1/2010.
Conclusion: 1. Windocoat has no
problem for concrete stain up to a
week old. 2. Shall test for 3 weeks

positive results so far.

Can the product be successfully

from other trades and foot traffic;
the project is for several
multi-story buildings and an
all-glass bridge. Have you conducted
tests of this product on extruded
aluminum? Has it been tested on
surfaces over a period of time e.g.
2 years for maintenance of
protective properties and ease of
removal? Since these are finished
surfaces, it is imperative that no
residue is left behind from the
protective products.

square feet. Your account has 2842
square meters. Square meter = 10.764
square feet. You need to cover 30592
square feet. Need a minimum of 3
drums. 165 gallons
D. The mirror surface of the
elevator(lift) for high buildings need
to be covered and protected before
installation and operation. Currently,
most lift manufacturers cover and
protect the mirror surface of their
lifts by adhesive plastic films in
China. Mirror front is glass,
therefore our water based WindOcoat
(clear) or WindOcoat 4880 (blue) will
work well for this application.
E.Can you tell me the temperature
range for application and exposure for
the above product. Best way to
apply Windowcoat 4880 is by airless
spray. This product is formulated not
to sag of wet film 24 mils thick. The
product can be applied from 60F to
even to 120 F. The product once the
water has evaporated can withstand
temperature of -20F to + 140F and
still be flexible to peel in one
sheet. The peeling has to be
accomplished at 60 to 100F. Below
60 the coating is on the brittle side
and above 110 it is too soft and
stretches on peel. This coating is
good on the outdoor exposures up to 12
months.
Without “WindOcoat”, glass

UV Exposure Study: The two sets of
pictures represent the equivalent to
6 months and 12 months exposure to
UV light using a controlled
irradiance water cooled xenon arc
apparatus and run to SAE J1960
accelerated exposure of automotive
exterior materials.
Three sets of coatings were tested:
1) WindOcoat 4880 - as is (on the
left)2) WindOcoat 4880 - with UV adds
(middle)3) competitor's product (on the
right)
Overall all sets exposed quite well
and the test resulted in good
integrity. 4930 and the competitor's
product presented very similar
results whereas the 4930UV was
almost perfect after the 6 month
test and much better than the other
two after the 12 month conditions.
Peeling of the two WindOcoat 4930
was very easy. The competitor's 6
months was resisting peeling but OK
whereas the 12 month competitor's
was hard to peel back – it is very
stretchy and has fairly good
adherence to glass and it required
some effort to peel back.
Patch Test: Because it is difficult
to determine the type of substrate
of the window frame such as type of
acrylic ,perform a small test first.
This will determine 4930
effectiveness, coverage, and the
approximate amount of time required
for it to work.

allow light in, that it peel after
being over-painted, that it provided

sprayed onto adjacent wood trim.

well. We were able to score it with
a razor and peel it from the wood,
