UV_MetalMask_73 is developed to mask
metal for surface and cavity
protection during acid stripping,
machining and air plasma spray
operations. It is used for
repair and overhaul of turbine
engines, blades, vanes and other
components. It cures in seconds upon
exposure to uv light source. Cured
film can be easily removed by
incineration at 650*c[1200*F]+.
UV_MetalMask_731 is a UV curable,
optically clear, high adhesion,
tough film that is a burn off grade
for metal surfaces.
UV_MetalMask is an economical one
component, UV cure masking resin
that simplifies your process by
offering fast, reliable protection
for your parts. No measuring or
special mixing required. It
eliminates the need for fixtures,
tapes, lacquers and wax in your
metal finishing process and with the
proper UV cure (irradiance), 731
will not leave a residue on the
surface. |

UV Cure Guidelines |
|
|
|
|
| |
Light source:
400-600 W/in. mercury medium
pressure arc or microwave lamp
Distance:
focused light source with reflector
for reduced part temperature
Total Energy Density (cm2):
.9 W/cm2
(.68 J/cm2) * UVA
Belt speed: 20 ft./min. |
|
|
|
|
| |
UV cure rate is dependent on many
variables, such as; coating
thickness, lamp irradiance, distance
from the light source and line
speed. It is recommended that a
radiometer be used to monitor
irradiance. |
|
|
|
|
| |
Depth of Cure :
Measured with an EIT UV Power Puck
radiometer :
UV_MetalMask 732 has superior depth
of cure for a UV cure coating. Most
UV_Mask formulations typically cure
to a depth of .6 to 1.3 cm (
” to ”).
We
recommend to employ by curing
longer and/or at higher intensities
than required for full cure.
Customer must determine and qualify
and verify the appropriate
curing parameters required for their
specific application.

Optimizing
Performance :
1.
Exposure to Ambient and artificial
light should be keep to
minimum before curing. Dispensing
components such as needles, fluid
lines should be 100% light blocking,
not just UV blocking.
2.
Air exhaust system is recommended
to vent vapors and dissipate heat
during the curing process.
3.
oxygen in the atmosphere may
inhibit surface cure. Surfaces
exposed to air may require higher
intensity of UV light (more than
100mW/cm2) to produce a tack free
cured film. To reduce oxygen
inhibition , you can try flooding
the bond area with an inert gas
such as nitrogen.
4.
Before applying UV masking resin,
surfaces should be free form mold
release, greases and other
contaminants.
5.
UV Curing produces heat. If
required , cooling fans can be
used to reduce heating effect
on parts being cured. Parts
should be allowed to cool down after
uv cure before testing to get
accurate results. |

Clean
UP: Uncured
UV masking resin can be removed form
equipments and parts with organic
solvents. Cured material will be
impervious to many solvents
and very difficult to remove . Clean
up of cured material may require
mechanical methods. |
|
| |
Storage & Handling :
Avoid exposing the product to
high temperatures and minimize
exposure to artificial or natural
light prior to curing. UV
masking resins can polymerize upon
prolonged exposure to ambient and
other source of lights. Keep it
covered when not in use. Shelf
Life is up to 1 year when
properly stored between 50*f to 90*f
in unopened original
container. This product is
intended for industrial use
only. Avoid Breathign vapors. Avoid
direct contact with skin,eyes and
clothing.. Wear Impervious gloves.
Remvoe materail from skin with soap
and water. Do no tuse solvnets to
remove material from skin and eyes.
Consult Material safety data sheet
before use. |
