  Acid S tripping: Acid Stripping Process is used to remove coatings from the comp turbine components  in order for turbine to be overhauled and repaired.

UV_MetalMask  provides  proven  protection of surface of  complex configuration of Turbine and its parts.

 
   UV curable masking resins have been engineered to enhance chemical resistance for reliable protection from strong acids and alkalis used in dissolving metal substrates during Acid Stripping.

They are designed for complete protection from acid and are easily removed after the acid stripping operation is complete. 

UV_Metalmask  masking resins have been formulated to withstand soaking in hot acid without permeation or seepage under the mask. When properly cured, the resins provide superior surface protection from chemical processing of nickel super alloys, steel, and titanium. The temporary peelable or burn of  maskants will hold up to the surface preparation of grit blasting, which   is sometime required , prior to or in combination with the hot-acid soak.

UV_PeelMask cured coating can be trimmed to provide defined edge boundaries of components while still providing excellent protection with no leakage.

It is formulated  can tolerate most acid soaks such as Hydrochloric (HCl), Nitric (HNO3), Acetic (CH3COOH), Phosphoric (H3PO4), Hydrofluoric (HF), or various combinations of the acids.

 
Acid Stripping Chemical Process:
Acid Stripping is a chemical process that removes material from unmasked (unprotected) areas of metallic parts immersed in a tank of heated acids.

When spraying over freshly lacquered or re-enameled surfaces, allow 24 for lacquer to dry and allow full enamel cure before applying peelable coatings. Be sure to apply full film thickness of 100 microns (0.004"). On equipment to be stored for many months exposed to rain, sun and snow, it is recommended that a 200 micron (0.008") film of Strippable coating be applied in two coats, drying one hour between coats. This is a water based compound and should be protected from freezing. Recommended storage temperature is 10oC-32oC.

Try to avoid 'feather edges' or areas where it is applied thinly. In order to achieve a defined edge it may help to apply masking tape, roller up to and over the tape and remove tape while Our Peelable coatings Peelable coating is still wet.

If the Our Peelable coating film rips or tears, the flap may be lifted and resealed by applying a fresh wet coat to the underside and resealing. Alternatively, cut away flap and re-apply fresh coating, it will bond to itself.

Long-term exposure to sunlight will cause premature deterioration and brittleness of the film. Exposure to water   after the film is dried will soften the film but it will recover once it dries. Avoid traffic over the wet or while the film is wet. If components are to be stored externally for several weeks we recommend the application of acrylic topcoat which will protect for 12 months and more.
