Propeller SpinnerCoat 1840 |
Water based peelable
temporary protection for
propellers: |
| |
Propeller SpinnerCoat 1840 is specifically formulated for both indoor and outdoor protection against scratching and marring of
propellers for all industries during the handling, transportation, and storage of
propellers. It is UV stabilized and will not crack or discolor for up to a year outdoors and well beyond indoors. It remains very pliable and easy to peel leaving no residue or effect on the acrylic surface. It is stabilized against brittleness and is not softened or penetrated by most water-based and solvent based compounds.
The
first photograph is a cutaway
of a propeller assembly. one can see
how much important the spinner
( the domed part covering the
insides ) is cosmetically. Second
picture is polished spinner to be
coated and protected. The
third is spinners with Propeller SpinnerCoat 1840 peelable coating on them. The
fourth is the spinners after final
machining and assembly have been
done. This is the way they are
boxed and shipped. |

Propeller SpinnerCoat 1840 is VOC free with water being the only vapor released during the curing process.
Spinnercoat is applied via airless or air assist sprayer.
SpinnerCoat peelable coating is non flammable and non combustible as supplied and when the dry strippable film is formed and is also low hazard (see separate Health & Safety Data). |
| |
Propeller SpinnerCoat 1840 is a CLEAR water resistant, Peelable temporary protective that air dries quickly, leaving a tough, clear flexible coating that is easily removed from a variety of surfaces.
Propeller SpinnerCoat 1840 represents the ultimate in waterborne removable coating technology. |

Application: Water based peelable temporary
protection for propellers: |
| |
Propeller SpinnerCoat 1840 should be used as received. It can be applied by airless spray, paint roller, or brush. The coating dries upon water evaporation. Wet coating is
milky white). Dry coating is clear.
Propeller SpinnerCoat 1840 should be applied to form a dry film in the range of 3 to 10 mils(.003" to .010") thick. Application temperature is ambient to no lower than 50ºF. Drying times will be affected by humidity, film thickness, air movement and temperature. Proper fan placement can speed the dry by removing water at a much faster rate. Application by roller might require a few coats. Thick coating peels in one large continuous sheet. Thin coatings will break in areas of coating weakness.
Propeller SpinnerCoat 1840 is water based for safe use and easy water clean up. Dry coatings are water resistant. When applying
Propeller SpinnerCoat 1840 use the same protection as used while applying paint. |
| |
Note: It is critical to achieve correct dry film thickness for removal and peeling. |
| |
Application may be Lambs wool Ships Roller or by spray (conventional air or airless spray equipment with 21 thou tip size). |
| |
Take measures to protect and Mask areas against overspray. Be careful and avoid spraying into small openings where the coating may become thin and subsequently difficult to remove. Must try to Achieve a defined edge at the end of the area to be coated by taping the outer edges or by other methods. Do not apply during rain or frost. |
| |
Equipment: Recommended tip size for the Airless System is .070, similar to a glue tip. |

Precautions: |
| |
The surface to be protected with
Propeller SpinnerCoat 1840 should be dry, clean and free from oil, grease and other water incompatible matter. The clean surface helps even distribution of
Propeller SpinnerCoat 1840. The surface remains clean when
Propeller SpinnerCoat 1840 is removed and surface clean up will not be necessary for second time application. |
| |
Patch Test: Always test a small inconspicuous area first. Because of various substrate characteristics and conditions like porosity, deterioration, embattlement, adverse wear area, type of ink, paint and or other coatings applied, abrasion of panted surfaces, and the like ,it is difficult to predetermine specific effects from this product. |

Safety & Handling |
| |
See application and safety precautions before applying. Liquid product is slippery when wet. Please refer to MSDS.
- DO NOT allow the product to freeze. Frozen liquid material cannot
be rejuvenated and will not function
properly.
- DO NOT apply the product to surfaces other than those specifically
noted prior to thoroughly testing.
- DO NOT apply the coating too thin. This will result in a weak
discontinuous film, which will be
difficult to remove and offer no
protection.
- DO NOT apply the coating when it will be exposed to rain, moisture
or freezing temperatures before it
can fully cure.
- DO NOT apply the coating over small, intricate or delicate parts.
These areas should be masked with
plastic film or tape as the coating
may be difficult to remove.
- DO NOT attempt to peel the coatings at extreme temperatures. They
will peel easily at normal room
temperature.
(Very high temperatures (more than
160oF) may cause the coating to
fail.) |

Curing: |
| |
Propeller SpinnerCoat 1840 cures upon water evaporation. Dry time is dependent upon temperature, humidity, air movement and thickness of the coating. Curing may be accelerated by forced dry air up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Force dry coatings can cure in less than 10 minutes. Most coatings without assist will dry in a few hours. It is imperative that
Propeller SpinnerCoat 1840 be thoroughly cured and dry, before an attempt is made to peel the coating from the substrate. Cured coating is clear throughout. Cured
Propeller SpinnerCoat 1840 is water resistant. Surfaces coated with
Propeller SpinnerCoat 1840 can be water mopped. |

Storage: |
| |
Propeller SpinnerCoat 1840 should be stored in the original shipping container with temperatures between 60 and 90 degrees F. Container should be sealed until needed. Protection from freezing is necessary. |
| |
Removal: |
| |
Propeller SpinnerCoat 1840 is readily removed from surfaces by peeling any exposed edge. This Peelable coating can be removed by prying an edge and slowly lifting the coating. |
