Clear Peelable Coating For Temporary Protection |
PaintShield 5720 is water based clear Peelable coating formulated to protect automotive finishes against stone chips, bugs, damage, abrasion and weathering while allowing a vehicle's color brilliance to show through and its design intent to be maintained. 5720 is very easy to apply strippable coating for the protection of substrates from scratching and marring and detailing flaws. 5720 is useful for substrate protection during polishing, handling, transit and long term storage. When protections is no longer necessary, just lift up a corner of PaintShield film and slowly peel the coating off. |

Introduction: |
| |
PaintShield 5720 has a medium to high viscosity and is formulated for good flow with minimum sag when applied by brush, roller (1/8” nap preferred) or airless spray. The product has been tested on GM, FORD, AND CHRYSLER automobiles for a duration of six months. The weather conditions varied from snow to torrential rain with speeds up to 85 mph. The product protected the auto surface and peeled with ease. Best condition on good uniform peel was in the shade with temperature around 55 to 90F. This product definitely could last much longer than six months.
Even though PaintShield 5720 is a safe, water based zero VOC product, protection and ventilation is always a good practice. The fumes are that of water evaporation.
5720 is an easy to apply, strippable coating to protect substrates from scratching and marring. Can be applied by spraying or dipping.
General Chemical's PaintShield 5720 is a clear peelable coating and forms water resistant when dried. 5720 strippable temporary Protective Coating which has many applications. It may also be used to protect various types of surfaces. PaintShield 5720 air-dries and also drying process can be expedited by mechanical means , leaving a tough, yet flexible coating that is easily removed from a variety of surfaces.
5720 represents the ultimate in water-based strippable coating technology. It is stabilized against brittleness and is not softened or penetrated by most water-based compounds. |

Application: |
| |
Performance statements are based upon representative experience from testing throughout the United States; however, actual performance will be determined by substrate selection and preparation, exposure conditions, and maintenance of the marking.
Protective coating PaintShield 5720 should be used as received. It can be applied by spray, roller (1/8” nap works best) or brush. Apply at temperatures over 60F. Humidity will effect dry times. Apply a minimum of 8 mils (.008) of wet film.
Paintshield 5720 –cured coating excellent – below 20F to above 220F. Application: above 60F. Peeling: 70F --- 110F
When applying, use the same protection as used while applying paint. |

Patch Test: |
| |
Because it is difficult to determine the type and amount of application , perform a small test first. This will determine Aquashiled 5720 effectiveness, coverage, and the approximate amount of time required for it to work.
Protective Coating PaintShield 5720 should be used as received. It is applied by spray, spinning, roll coating, or dipping. The sprayed coating dries to touch in 60 minutes or less, depending on temperature and film thickness. 5720 should be applied to form a dry film in the range of 1 to 3 mil (.001" to .003") thick. Application temperature is ambient to no lower than 50 F, as drying times will be affected. |

Curing: |
| |
5720 will cure tack-free within 60 minutes after application. This is dependent upon temperature, humidity and thickness of coating. Deviations from application section will require adjustments in the curing times, as well as in the
strip ability parameters.
Curing may be accelerated by forced drying at 110-130 degrees Fahrenheit for 3 to 7 minutes.
It is imperative that 5720 be thoroughly cured and dry, with no water being in the film before an attempt is made to strip the coating from the substrate. |

Storage: |
It is recommended that temperatures of 13 degrees C - 32 degrees C (45 degrees F- 90 degrees F) should be used within one year of purchase.5720 should be stored in the original shipping container in indoor environment. Containers should be sealed until needed. Protection from freezing is necessary. |
