1.In
doing some research on removable
coatings I came across your site. I
am looking for a coating which can
be shop applied over blasted
mild steel (SSPC SP-10), and removed
in the field weeks or months later
either completely or in certain
areas. After curing the product
would be subject to exterior weather
conditions, and used primarily to
protect the blasted surface from
excessive rust. Do you have a
product that would meet this
criteria?
Our Recommendations :
Metalprotect_5000
is a water based peelable coating
promoted for rust protection on
ferrous metal. This coating cures
upon water evaporation to a clear,
though water resistant film.
Metalprotect_5201
is same as above but cures to a
white glossy peelable coating. This
coating is more UV resistant. Both
coating can be applied with a brush,
roller or airless spray equipment.
2. Folks, Can you point me to the
correct product for use on our
stainless steel components for
designer and recording industry?
We are trying to protect our
products after forming and welding
and finishing. For final delivery.
Items like Stainless audio cabinets,
Hand rail components for do it your
self installs and custom bath
fixtures. Most of our sheet stock
comes with a PVC coating as shipped
from the mill. We have to remove
this during our processing. Is there
a comparable spray application
appropriate to use as our final FOB.

Protective Coating Metalprotect_5000
should be used as received. It is
applied by airless spray, brushing
or dipping. The sprayed coating
dries to touch in 10 minutes or
less, depending on temperature and
film thickness. 5000 should be
applied to form a dry film in the
range of 1 to 3 mil (.001" to .003")
thick. Application temperature is
ambient to no lower than 50 F, as
drying times will be affected. |

Application is easy. The coating
does not adhere to the item's
surface, but "envelopes" it in a
protective jacket. Aluminum foil or
a small piece of tape can be used to
seal any crevices or holes that the
plastic should not fill as it covers
the item. |

Curing: |
|
|
|
|
|
| |
5000 will cure tack-free within 60
minutes after application. This is
dependent upon temperature, humidity
and thickness of coating. Deviations
from application section will
require adjustments in the curing
times, as well as in the strip
ability parameters. |

Curing may be accelerated by forced
drying. |
|
|
|
|
| |
It is imperative that 5000 be
thoroughly cured and dry, with no
water being felt before an attempt
is made to strip the coating from
the substrate. Substrates should not
be stored in airtight containers
until the 5000 is completely cured. |

Storage: |
|
|

|
|
| |
5000 should be stored in the
original shipping container with
temperatures between 60 and 90
degrees F. Containers should be
sealed until needed. Protection from
freezing is necessary. |
