According to industry data, 70% of windows and doors are damaged during construction and require repair before the home can be sold. |
| |
If you have ever walked a construction job, you have seen the windows and doors splattered with construction material and the staining and scratching that results from this practice. Naturally, the homeowner will focus on this and carefully examine the windows for damage to add to the punch list. |

Performance Tests: |
| |
| |
UV Exposure Study: The two sets of pictures represent the equivalent to 6 months and 12 months exposure to UV light using a controlled irradiance water cooled XENON ARC apparatus and run to SAE J1960 ACCELERATED EXPOSURE OF AUTOMOTIVE EXTERIOR MATERIALS. |
| |
Three sets of coatings were tested:
1) DoorShield - as is (on the left)
2) DoorShield- with UV adds (middle)
3) competitor's product (on the right) |
| |
OVERALL all sets exposed quite well and the test resulted in good integrity. 4930 and the competitor's product presented very similar results whereas the 4930UV was almost perfect after the 6 month test and much better than the other two after the 12 month conditions. |
| |
Peeling of the two WindOcoat 4930 was very easy. The competitor's 6 months was resisting peeling but OK whereas the 12 month competitor's was hard to peel back – it is very stretchy and has fairly good adherence to glass and it required some effort to peel back. |
| |
Patch Test: Because it is difficult to determine the type of substrate of the door frame such as type of acrylic ,perform a small test first. This will determine 4930 effectiveness, coverage, and the approximate amount of time required for it to work. |

DoorShield, a protective peelable mask for door, is easy to brush on. Brushes can be cleaned with soap and water. DoorShield, a protective peelable mask for door, is normally used as received, it can be applied by air or airless spray, roll coating, or brushing. Apply product evenly to produce a dry film thickness of approximately 7-10 mils or wet film thickness of 14 to 20 mils.. Drying time is dependent on temperature. At 70ºF, product will dry in approximately 24 hours. You can enhance drying time by air movement and other suitable means. |
| |
Doors: Apply to the glazing prior to the commencement of the brickwork operation to prevent falling mortar adhering to the glass. A thicker second application on external window face will give excellent protection. Apply internally prior to the plastering operation commencing. |
| |
Curtain Wall: Take care not to block drainage sloth, wipe off any residue at the time of application. Ensure the product does not become trapped during the pressure plate and capping operation. Leave an untreated border around the glass perimeter. |
| |
Structured Assemblies: Will not affect silicone joint - ensure they are cured prior to film application. |
| |
Renovation: Apply to glass that is to remain 'in situ', to give excellent protection during the course of building alteration. |

Can DoorShield
strippable coating for door glass be sprayed? |
| |
Yes, you can spray it. Preferred method is roll or brush on which helps control necessary film thickness to facilitate its removal. |
