Typical Customer inquiry :We are a yacht refit and repair company operating in Malta, We carry out services such as painting (external and internal), carpentry, teak deck, stainless steel works and many other. Our clients are mainly super yachts. We are a small company however, we intend to grow and actively considering opening a shop in the near future, just off the main yacht marina, thus we actively looking for relative suppliers. |
| |
Could you be as kind to forward us some brochures and catalogues regarding your strippable coatings for marine, together with indicative price lists and minimum order quantities. Maybe you can send us a hard copy catalogue together with prices? |
| |
Perhaps we can also discuss the possibility of us representing you here in Malta because I as far I could see from your website there is no dealer here in Malta |

General Chemical's BoatPeelcoat_1680 is a
blue water resistant, Peelable temporary protective coating which has many applications. It can be used to protect various types of surfaces during industrial processing. BoatPeelcoat_1680 air dries quickly, leaving a tough,
blue flexible coating that is easily removed from a variety of surfaces.
BoatProtect_1680 represents the ultimate in waterborne removable coating technology. It is stabilized against brittleness and is not softened or penetrated by most water-based compounds. |
| |
BoatProtect_1680 is good over cement, linoleum and floor painted with enamels that are resistant to water.
BoatProtect_1680 will adhere to enamels based on emulsions and therefore should not be used. |

Application: |
| |
BoatProtect_1680 should be used as received. It can be applied by airless spray, paint roller, or brush. The coating dries upon water evaporation. Wet coating is
blue. Dry coating is blue.
BoatProtect_1680 should be applied to form a dry film in the range of
7 to 10 mils(.007" to .010") thick. Application temperature is ambient to no lower than 50ºF. Drying times will be affected by humidity, film thickness, air movement and temperature. Best time to apply is on week-ends or late afternoons to give a coating time to dry. Proper fan placement can speed the dry by removing water at a much faster rate. Application by roller might require a few coats. Thick coating peels in one large continuous sheet. Thin coatings will break in areas of coating weakness.
BoatProtect_1680 is water based for safe use and easy water clean up. Dry coatings are water resistant. When applying
BoatProtect_1680 use the same protection as used while applying paint..
The most frequent mistake that people make when using BOAT-PROTECT is they apply it too thin . We recommend that you apply BOAT-PROTECT to a minimum of 20 wet millsrymills of Protective film. A film of this thickness will offer a good combination of performance and economy. Thicker films will enhance performance and you may determine later that your Application will demand more or less than 7 mils. The adhesion of the coating to the Substrate is the same regardless of thickness. However, the tensile strength of the coating will Increase with its thickness. This is why you will be able to easily peel large sheets of coating that are thick but you may have to pick off small pieces of very thin material on the same part
BoatProtect 1680 is a water
based peelable coating
specifically formulated to
protect non porous boat surfaces
against abrasion, staining and
environmental climate changes
during boat construction,
storage or transport .
BoatProtect 1680 is non
hazardous and has zero VOCs.
This coating can be applied with
a roller or airless spray.
BoatProtect 1680 cures upon
water evaporation. Cured films
are water tough and water
resistant. The applied coating
dries to form an air tight film
which protects the boats’
surfaces and preserves it’s
beauty. The coating is simply
removed by peeling. The uncured
film on application equipment
can be cleaned with water.
One of the problems that may be
encountered with this type of
product is exposure to rain or
other sources of moisture.
BOAT-PROTECT, like other water
based products, takes time (up
to several weeks or more) to
develop good water resistance.
For example, when a car is
repainted the shop will tell you
not to wax the car for 30 days
because the paint is still
curing. If the cured (dry to the
touch) coating is exposed to
water too soon, it will absorb
water, become soft and may
blister. If this should occur,
allow the coating to my out
undisturbed and it will
re-adhere and regain its
Original properties. Recently
applied coating that has been
subjected to severe exposure
(under water or driving rain)
for a prolonged period of time
will most likely lift off the
part. For this reason we do not
recommend transporting items
coated with BOAT-PROTECT on an
open truck when they may be
exposed to rain or other sources
of moisture.
Conversely, when the coating has
had sufficient time to develop
good water resistance, it will
not be affected by the water but
is still not waterproof. Always
allow the coating sufficient
time
To evaporate any absorbed water
before removal as this residual
moisture will increase the
adhesion.
BOAT-PROTECT does have UV
resistance. We have done the
UV-Exposure Study. This data can
be found on our website. | |

| |
Note : It is critical to achieve correct dry film thickness for removal and peeling. |
| |
Application may be Lambs wool Ships Roller or by spray (conventional air or airless spray equipment with 21 thou tip size). |
| |
Take measures to protect and Mask areas against overspray. Be careful and avoid spraying into small openings where the coating may become thin and subsequently difficult to remove. |
| |
Must try to Achieve a defined edge at the end of the area to be coated by taping the outer edges or by other methods. |
| |
Do not apply during rain or frost. A MINIMUM of two coats of basecoat will be required allowing the first coat to dry before applying the second. |

Precautions: |
| |
The surface to be applied with
BoatProtect_1680 should be dry, clean and free from oil, grease and other water incompatible matter. The clean surface helps even distribution of
BoatProtect_1680. The surface remains clean when
BoatProtect_1680 is removed and surface clean up will not be necessary for second time application. |
| |
Patch Test: |
| |
Always test a small inconspicuous area first. Because of various substrate characteristics and conditions like porosity, deterioration, embattlement, adverse wear area, type of ink, paint and or other coatings applied, abrasion of panted surfaces, and the like ,it is difficult to predetermine specific effects from this product. |

apply
BoatProtect_1680 and let it dry. Rinse out roller with plenty of water between coats |
Allow first coat to dry. dry time will be affected by coating thickness, application methods, humidity and air flow in the vicinity. Initial drying time is 30 minutes approximately. |

Apply second coat and allow it to dry before permitting traffic on the floor. |

Curing: |
| |
BoatProtect_1680 cures upon water evaporation. Dry time is dependent upon temperature, humidity, air movement and thickness of the coating. Curing may be accelerated by forced dry air up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. Force dry coatings can cure in less than 10 minutes. Most coatings without assist will dry in a few hours. It is imperative that
BoatProtect_1680 be thoroughly cured and dry, before an attempt is made to peel the coating from the substrate. Cured coating is
blue throughout. Cured
BoatProtect_1680 is water resistant. Floors coated with
BoatProtect_1680 can be water mopped. |

Storage: |
| |

Removal: |
| |
1680 is readily removed from surfaces by peeling any exposed edge. This Peelable coating can be removed by prying an edge and slowly lifting the coating off the floor. |
