Bilgeclean 9770 :Bilge Cleaner For Boats |
|

Bilgeclean 9770 BILGE CLEANER cleans and deodorizers; but doesn't permit pumping the contents overboard if it contains fuel or oil. It has a pleasant lemon odor. Bilgeclean 9770 contains hydrogen peroxide to assist in both cleaning and deodorize. All of the ingredients are environmentally friendly and are completely biodegradable..
The major contaminants that produce bilge scum are gasoline, diesel, lubricants, antifreeze and mold. Combine these with algae and other contaminants and you can end up with smelly, slimy crud in the bilge. Bilge cleaners contain scented detergents and surfactants designed to emulsify this crud and clean, deodorize and protect against vapor explosions. These products are generally not intended to be left in the bilge and are added to bilge water just prior to taking the boat out for an hour or so to agitate the mixture, and then drained, providing the solution doesn't contain fuel or oil (see "Caution").
How Bilge Cleaners Work
A key to headache-free boating is to keep a boat's bilge free from mold, mildew, oil and marine slime.
Bilge cleaners work by dissolving the crud, grease and oil buildup that gather in the boat's hull
Once the bilge cleaner breaks down the oil, mold and bacteria, the debris will become suspended in the water-cleaner solution. The sludge-cleaner mix is later pumped out of the hull. (Remember it is illegal to pump oil-tainted bilge water overboard and doing so can subject you to a fine levied by the United States Coast Guard.) |

Bilgeclean 9770 was field tested and compared to other bilge cleaners. testing each product in similar conditions in a controlled setting.. Field-testing bilge cleaners is somewhat more challenging. Some bilges are dirtier than others, making it hard to compare performance. Older boats often have deep bilges that collect oil and mold, while many of the newer boats have shallow bilges that are easier to keep clean.
Our comparison of bilge cleaners is based on testing each product in exactly the same manner. We compared smell in the bottle and in use, suggested volume to be used, amount of foaming and duration of foam when a small quantity was put in a bottle with oily water and shaken (when mixed with water, foam holds the bilge crud in suspension until it's pumped out; the longer a product foams, the better it's cleaning ability). It's not uncommon to spill cleaners when using them. To check for damage to interior finishes, we placed a few drops of each cleaner on varnished teak plywood and gel coat,Bilgeclean 9770 did not damage the varnished teak or the gel coat. |

Dosages are based on the suggested volume as specified on the container label. These are approximate and usage depends on the condition and configuration of your bilge. Manufacturers recommend treating the bilge at the beginning of the season then once a month or as necessary..
