Customer Comments:
I
work for Martin's Wood Products
in Myerstown, PA. We manufacture
and finish furniture, and we're
looking for a way to protect the
lenses that cover the
fluorescent lights in our spray
booths. As overspray from our
stain, paint, sealer and top
coat cover and diminish the
light output through the lenses,
we simply take a razor blade and
scrap of the excess. It's not
something we have to do often,
but it can be kind of tedious.
Do you have something that you
could recommend from your line
of products that would simplify
this procedure? It would have to
perform as follows:
1. It needs to be "clear" so the
booth lights can continue to
illuminate the furniture being
finished.
2. It needs to be able to
withstand the chemicals/solvents
found in stain, paint and
post-catalyzed sealer and top
coat without "breaking down."
3. It must be compatible with
the chemicals/solvents found in
stain, paint and post-catalyzed
sealer and top coat so "fish
eye" doesn't occur in the
finish.
Answer: Boothcoat 5140 is a
water based peelable coating
that dries to a clear hard film.
The cured coating is water and
solvent resistant. This coating
has excellent peeling properties
from glass. It has not silicon
or waxy substances.
2. I am looking for an
economical solution for a
removable paint booth liner. We
have tried some products in the
past but they require mixing and
the coating pulls parts when
removing. This leads to more
labor to apply and also creates
a mess during change over. Do
you have a system can be easily
applied and removed?
3. I just talked to your
technical department and was
told to e-mail you for
information.
We are just completing a very
large industrial paint booth.
The paint booth measures 100' x
25' by 22' high. We are an
industrial coatings contractor.
Our paint booth will see all
types of industrial coatings
from zinc's to epoxies to
urethanes. We will be heat
curing in the neighborhood of
150 degrees. I am looking at a
couple of different products to
protect all of our light
fixtures as well as walls,
ceilings and floors.
Dean, On phone we discussed:
1) BOOTHCOAT 5201—Water based
peelable coating that cures by
upon water evaporation to a
glossy white enamel and is easy
to peel from clean metal
surfaces.
2) BOOTHCOAT 2060—Water based
peelable coating as above but
can be peeled from not so well
cleaned metal surfaces.
3) Peelkleer 5358—Clear water
based peelable coating for light
fixtures.
A gallon of Boothcoat covers 150
to 180 Square feet.
If your booth is 100 feet long
by 25 feet wide by 22 feet high
you will, Including the overhead
7450 square feet to cover.
That is about 50 gallons of
paint. 4. Hello. I'm
looking for a peelable mask to
use on extruded aluminum trays
that we use to carry urethane
molds through our manufactured
stone process. It would need
to resist a EVA/cement-based
"paint" and concrete, then be
removable when we the build-up
on the trays is too great.
Thanks!
Hi
Mark and thanks for your
inquiry. I suggest our clear
Booth Coat 5140 or white Booth
Coat 5201. Both Products are
water based, non hazardous and
highly resistant to the
coatings you mention as well
as water, alkali, solvent and
heat. They can simply be
peeled from the aluminum
surface when coatings build
up.

Paint Spray Booth Operation: Warning
Overspray accumulates quickly on
spray booth walls, lights, and
windows. It is highly flammable and
a spontaneous combustion hazard.
Overspray buildup reduces booth
illumination and limits operator
efficiency.
Paint Spray Booth Maintenance: The
Past
The old way of removing overspray
accumulation called for using hand
scrapers for walls and
solvent-soaked rags for lights. This
messy, labor intensive chore was
often postponed, which only made
matters worse. If, by chance, a
conventional solvent type booth
coating was used, the mess was still
there, and an OSHA and EPA problem
as well.
Paint Spray Booth Maintenance: The
Right Way
Safety in the workplace and
environmental concerns dictate that
today's paint spray booth coatings
keep pace with ever-changing
Federal, state, and local laws.
General Chemical 's answer to this
problem is - a line of spray booth
coatings which are nonflammable,
environmentally safe, and low in
volatile organic compounds (VOC)
Osha 1910.107 (g) (2):
"All spraying areas shall be kept as
free from the accumulation of
deposits of combustible residues as
practical, with cleaning conducted
daily, if necessary."
