We are a fiberglass manufacturer and am looking for a floor and wall coating that can be easily removed from our gel coat and chop booths. Any ideas? John Project Manager
Our Recommendations: For the floor our FloorPeel 4000 will be exactly what you need especially if you have heavy foot traffic and fork truck traffic running over it. This is a water based, zero VOC content peelable coating that has a built in non slip feature. The soiled area can be cut out, peeled up and reapplied or simply peel the entire area and recoat.. One gallon will cover approx 100 to 125 square feet.
1. Are any of your liquid peel able materials paintable? We have a studio with floor, hard cyc and wall that need one large contiguous sheet of a peelable material that can receive multiple layers of latex paint.
It’s the system that was installed some 20 years ago, and it’s time to replace it (peel it up and start over). The only issue is that we don’t know what material to use as that base. Floorpeel 4000 is a water based peelable coating that cures upon water evaporation. Cured films are paintable.
Virtually eliminates repairs and reduces replacement costs during showroom period. This protective coating for furniture is removed in one piece like a big piece of saran wrap revealing a protected surface in showroom condition! The total cost adds less than $1 to 2 of coating to an average $700 Furniture!
product that can be sprayed on aluminum parts and then machined.
1.I need a product that can be sprayed on aluminum parts and then machined. I use coolant now to wash away chips, sometimes the chips scratch the surface of the part I am machining. This scraps the part I am machining. I would like to have a water based product that I could spray on, let dry, then cover with oil. If possible I would like to use your product to lubricate my tool, and not cover with oil.
2. Peelable product required to protect magnesium ingot once installed and steel surface around ingot to be painted without paint getting on ingot - coating to be peeled away after painting Current Chemical Used and the Manufacturing
3. I must borrow another company's brand new 125' aerial manlift for my spray painting job. Naturally they are very expensive and they wish for me to not get any paint on it. It looks nice and I don't want to get any paint on it or the man basket. Can you Help Me !!!!!Do you have a coating that I can apply and simply rinse off afterward....The paint will not be very concentrated as to block any water getting to a protective film...This is the first time I've ever heard of something like this...
4. I called last week looking for a strippable coating and you asked me to detail the process we go through in-order for you to make a recommendation. The process starts with a steel blank with the top side covered with a copper foil. Electroplating tape is placed on the bottom of the steel blank. Any exposed steel that is not covered with the tape and or copper foil is covered with PEELABLE COATING We let coating dry over night. The steel is then exposed to Ferric Chloride etching solution at 132 degrees F. with a Baume reading of 42 for 90 seconds. Then goes through 2 cold water baths. Then placed in a hot water solution that softens the tape and Peelable coating. Last cleaning is a 150 degree F Ultrasonic cleaning of 9 parts water to 1 part chemical cleaner to 1/2 part Advantage Alkaline cleaner #99a for 2 minutes. Last step is to rinse with water.
5. I've been looking for a Peelable coating product, found you, and have a couple of questions I hope you can answer. I need to coat items made from aluminum and copper plate that are roughly 24 by 10 inches, 1/8th to 1/4 inch thick. The coating is to protect the items from handling and abrasion while on display at their point of sale. The coating must be clear to show the finished metal surface, and able to be applied by rolling or brushing. From what I can tell, both your AquaShield 4670 and Stripaway 4580 seem like they would work. Can you please recommend which product would be best for my application, or suggest an alternative? Also, the dried coating is 1-3 mils. Can a second coat be applied for a thicker finish? Thank you for your help.
6.I am looking for a temporary coating for carbon steel and stainless steel weld joints on tanks. (The tanks are used for transporting radioactive materials.) The coating is removed once a year in order to inspect the welds, then recoated. The coating should have good exterior durability and resistance to corrosion. Do you think that one of your strippable coatings might work in this application? Drying time is not an issue. The tanks are currently coated with a 2K polyurethane system. The welds are masked and coated later. Drying time can be whatever is required by the coating. Solventborne is acceptable. My main concern is that the coating has the required durability (one year maximum). I realize it's somewhat contradictory to expect good performance, which requires good adhesion, but have the coating easily removable. Removal with alkaline solution would be acceptable also. Answer: Use our Boothcoat 5201
7.I am searching for an acid resistant coating that can be applied via brush in our manufacturing process to mask specific regions on our product during chemical etch. After the etch process we then want to remove the coating COMPLETELY leaving absolutely no trace residue. (A post process solvent wipe to remove any material would be acceptable.) The base materials can be: 1. SS304 or 2.Rhenium or 3. Tungsten or 4. Molybdenum. The acids that the material will have to resist are dependent on the base material and may involve a secondary exposure via immersion in one or more of the below acids: 1. Hydrogen peroxide (50%) plus Ammonium hydroxide (50%) 2. Nitric Acid (50%) 3. Hydrofluoric Acid (30%) plus Nitric Acid (20%) 4. Hydrochloric Acid (50%) 5. Hydrochloric Acid (75%) plus Nitric Acid (25%) 6. Sulfuric Acid (15%) 7. Sodium Hypocloride (100%) The immersion times in these acids can range from 10 to 30 minutes. The temperatures at which these processes can be performed are: 1. Room Temp or 2. 100C or 3. 200C Can you provide me with a product that meets these requirements? Thank you. Sincerely,
Answer : Coscoat 4300 is a solvent based product formulated for brushing with maximum film built. This product was tested overnight at 100C in sulfuric, phosphoric, hydrochloric and nitric acids. Coscoat 4300 applied to 2 1/2 mils of dry film protected the metal substrate and peeled with ease. The product was tried over bare aluminum, cold rolled steel, stainless steel and lead
8. Greetings . We are one of the largest manufacturer of Wind Mill Manufacturers and have come across your product through site.
We would like to apply these coatings on our Rotor Blades which would act as a cover during transportation and would be peeled off once it reaches destination and is ready for installation.
Hi,Can you please send me some information about products you have available for chemical warfare decontamination? I am doing a product review for a government Sponsor and would like to include your product in my report.

Stripaway is a Protective strippable coating For equipment such as lifts is the revolutionary product developed by General Chemical Corp...
Our customer in china wrote to us :
The mirror surface of the lift for high buildings need to be covered and protected before installation and operation. Currently, most lift manufacturers cover and protect the mirror surface of their lifts by adhesive plastic films in China. Mirror front is glass, therefore our water based Stripaway 5980 (clear) work well for this application.
I work for Martin's Wood Products in Myerstown, PA. We manufacture and finish furniture, and we're looking for a way to protect the lenses that cover the fluorescent lights in our spray booths. As overspray from our stain, paint, sealer and top coat cover and diminish the light output through the lenses, we simply take a razor blade and scrap of the excess. It's not something we have to do often, but it can be kind of tedious. Do you have something that you could recommend from your line of products that would simplify this procedure? It would have to perform as follows:
1. It needs to be "clear" so the booth lights can continue to illuminate the furniture being finished. 2. It needs to be able to withstand the chemicals/solvents found in stain, paint and post-catalyzed sealer and top coat without "breaking down." 3. It must be compatible with the chemicals/solvents found in stain, paint and post-catalyzed sealer and top coat so "fish eye" doesn't occur in the finish.
Answer: Boothcoat 5140 is a water based peelable coating that dries to a clear hard film. The cured coating is water and solvent resistant. This coating has excellent peeling properties from glass. It has not silicon or waxy substances.

My first thought was to go with a frosted window film
I have a storefront in the 1st floor of my building that is going to be vacant for a short time and would like to mask the windows. My first thought was to go with a frosted window film but I was told about your product. Can you contact me with some possible options? I was thinking just a silver/gray frost, but would welcome other suggestions.
Our Recommendations:
Our WindOcoat is ideal for this application. Please see above 2 photos of a pane of glass that I coated with 2 of our coatings to demonstrate this very application. First using our white coating I painted a message on the window. I then covered the entire window with our black coating to completely block out the window. We can do this in many colors including various neon colors. These coatings are water based non hazardous, bio degradable and contain virtually no VOC’s. They can be used indoors or out and are very weather resistant. When the remodeling is complete you simply peel the coating off in one sheet, compress into a ball and throw away. The coating can be applied using a sprayer, roller or brush. Sprayer or roller is preferred. The coating in the photo was applied using a standard latex type paint roller. A gallon will cover 200 to 250 square feet.
2. We are currently using spray latex purchased from a mold making supplies company that supplies artists. We are spraying it on 3D thermoformed parts. The parts are sheets about 12†x 24†and the draw is a maximum of 0.375†deep. The latex thins out on vertical faces of the parts and when the latex peels the coating breaks and leaves latex behind. Also, if the latex is not sprayed thick enough then it tends to not form a good film. The surface we are spraying onto is a fluorocarbon film surface. After coating we laser cut the parts and peel the masking. I would like to get working with you guys to find a peelable coating and application that would work better for this application. We are open to spraying or roller coating with a hand roller but we cannot apply the coating to both sides of the formed piece.
Our recommendation: Stripaway 4580 is a water based peelable coating with a wet sag resistance of 24 mils. This coating can be sprayed with HVLP or airless spray guns. For best results a minimum of 10 wet mils of paint would give you good protection and clean easy peel. Stripaway 4580 is in the middle of our viscosity range and based on your description is a good start for your application

We are a Ship repair yard located in Canary Islands
1. Dear Sirs. We are a Ship repair yard located in Canary Islands (please, have a look on our website).
I would like to know if you have dealers located in our area who could supply us your product. We are interested in testing your peelable coats that we think can be used in many occasions during a ship repair process (protecting windows, propeller, stern tubes, etc, when blasting or painting).
In any case, could you send us technical sheet and price?.
2. I am looking for a strippable coating that will withstand weather and sun for 6-9 months. The coating should be sprayable or preferably brush-on and then peelable.
Can a gallon sample be purchased and sent to Virgin Gorda, BVI.Recommendations: Windocoat 4880 is a water based peelable coating that can be applied by brush, roller or airless spray. This peelable coating will last up to 12 months on outside exposure and peel from glass, metal, ceramic, and many other surfaces. We also manufacture other peelable coatings that can withstand outside exposure for 12 months. If you can tell us the surface you want to protect we might have the product to recommend.
"I need to bond ABS to ABS in a pure-water environment (50° to 180° F). Concern for leaching chemicals into the pure water is high. What FDA-approved solvent choices do I have?"
One website that I found listed various solvents like Cyclohexanone, Cyclohexanone/THF, Cyclohexanone with various medical-grade acrylic polymers dissolved in the solvent for added strength, and various other combinations. www.ineos-nova.com. The grade of solvents are typically not listed as Medical Grade or FDA approved, but based on the level of purity of the solvent. Obtaining the solvent of choice with the highest purity (99.9% or higher) would limit the potential leachables into the water. Sigma Aldrich or Alpha Aesar both carry small quantities of these solvents in various grades for evaluation. Methyl ethyl ketone (MEK) is an alternative solvent system. Using a solvent requires special handling due to the smell, flammability, and explosive storage requirements, and is carefully monitored by the EPA. Dispensing systems like those from Technoideal are options to limit operator exposure . If you want to consider a solvent-free adhesive, you might look at a 1-part, light-curable adhesive like DYMAX 1161-M if you can get visible light to the bond line (non-opaque parts), or a 2-part urethane or epoxy from companies like Epoxy Technology or 3M (to name a few) may be considered. These alternatives to solvent can provide a bond almost as strong as solvent, fill gaps in the molded ABS bond lines, and are much more environmentally friendly.
What is the Smoke Coming off the Light-Curable Adhesive?
Before we can answer this question we have to first understand what it’s not.
By definition1, it’s not smoke or vapors or outgassing.
What you really are seeing coming off of the curing adhesive are fumes generated by the light-curing process. This phenomenon is the result of a very rapid polymerization or chemical reaction that occurs when the liquid adhesive is exposed to the correct wavelength of light. Both heat given off during the reaction (at the molecular level) and heat from the absorption of light energy can, in some instances, result in a small amount of adhesive fumes being emitted before the product has a chance to completely polymerize or cure.
Essentially, this phenomenon may emit trace amounts of some of the ingredients (or fractions of the ingredients) contained in the formulation. Please note that the volatilization may or may not be noticeable, but is almost always a very small amount.
Are the fumes hazardous? Always consult the MSDS to answer this question. However, if the liquid itself poses a risk to the user, then good manufacturing practices for the particular process may suggest incorporating an exhaust system in the bonding area to remove the fumes during the light-curing step.
Definitions1: Vapor: The gaseous state of a substance that is solid or liquid at temperatures and pressures encountered. NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health) Definition Fume: A solid condensation particulate, usually of a vaporized metal. NIOSH Definition (This could also be generated from curing our adhesives) Outgassing: The release of absorbed or occluded gases or water vapor, usually by heating in a vacuum. (Web definition) Smoke: The vaporous system made up of small particles of carbonaceous matter in the air, resulting mainly from the burning of organic material. (Web definition)
