Aerospace Strippable Coatings, Aerospace Peelable Coatings |
| |
General Chemical's AEROSPACE strippable coatings dries to form a contour-hugging skin-tight protective film. AEROSPACE customers and others recognized the value of protecting substrates during fabrication, assembly and shipment. The tough General Chemical's Peelable coating clear film is still the best method of preventing scratches and abrasions and strips cleanly away from the surface leaving no residue. It will also act as a maskant against paint overspray. |

Chemical Milling: |
| |
General Chemical Corp.'s line of chemical milling maskants provides both solvent based and polyurea based two component maskants which are used to allow aircraft manufacturers to chemical mill small amount of metal from larger parts to achieve weight savings. Maskants protect the metal in areas not exposed to the harsh chemical milling solutions. They are designed for complete protection from undercutting and are easily removed after the chemical milling operation is complete. StriProtect 1800 maskant is designed primarily in the aerospace industry as this process is uniquely suited to reducing weight while maintaining strength on aluminum parts. General Chemical Corp. supply the aviation industry with its coating StriProtect 1800 A & StriProtect 1800 B peelable coatings which acts as a maskant in the CHEMICAL MILLING process. The tough peelable coating resists the attack of aggressive chemicals such as acids & alkalines. It provides a clean edge to exposed metal areas for chemical erosion.

Protective Peelable Coatings for Aircraft and Aircraft Parts: |
General Chemical Corp. coatings have engineered strippable coatings for s the aircraft industry. Helicoat 1170 is protecting Acrylic canopies and transparencies during fabrication, assembly and shipment. clear film formed by 1170 is the best method of preventing scratches and abrasions and strips cleanly away from the surface leaving no residue. It will also act as a maskant against paint overspray. |

Preservation System: |
| |
Our Peelable coatings are used for long term preservation for the external storage of airplane parts and equipment saving the use of internal storage space and also when they are loaded on deck, protected from the corrosive elements during the long sea voyage .
Similar applications apply to any components that may be exposed to the elements for long periods of time that would be affected by U.V. degradation, acid rain or corrosion. The General Chemical Preservation System Peelable maskants are non toxic, non flammable and the water borne skin tight film will not damage plastic or painted surfaces. |

Clay Modeling Concept:
| |
Stripcoat 4490AL is solvent based Bright Silver Peelable coating for prototypes in engineering design on clay models and other substrates so the flaws can be found easier. 4490AL is AEROSPACE Peelable masks an international standard for designing prototypes such as cars during designing and manufacturing process
The General Chemical's temporary protective coatings are water borne non-toxic and non-hazardous products which is applied by lamb’s wool roller. It peels away cleanly leaving no residue and will not damage plastics or painted surfaces.
General Chemical strippable coating is also used to protect heavy traffic areas and sensitive surfaces against staining and abrasion during construction, storage and transport. Simply roll on and peel off on completion. The tough film is weather-resistant, UV and solvent resistant |

Paint Strippers : Aircraft Paint Removal Systems |
| |
General Chemical Corp. offers extensive line of environmentally advantaged paint strippers for use in the paint removal of aircraft surfaces and parts. These thixotropic paint strippers are designed to cling to vertical surfaces thereby improving the paint removal process.
Our paint removers are designed to remove aircraft exterior paint finishes and primers when inspecting and/or re-painting an aircraft. |

Standard air assisted, or airless spray equipment, Brush or Roller (Use lambs wool roller).
Using standard good atomizing spray equipment (eg. DeVilbiss MBC gun, FF nozzle and No 765 air cap) with pressure feed, a 100 micron (0.004") film can be applied to a vertical surface in one coat. Atomization pressure of 5ATM (75lbs/sq in) and sufficient pot pressure (0.3 ATM - 5lbs/sq in) to obtain proper fluid delivery is recommended. Airless spray can also be used such as Graco No 205-904 with a 163-168 insert and a 28:1 ratio pump. Use water only for cleaning spray equipment. Drying can be accelerated by circulation of warm air or infra red lamps. |
Special Instructions: |
When spraying over freshly lacquered or re-enameled surfaces, allow 24 for lacquer to dry and allow full enamel cure before applying peelable coatings. Be sure to apply full film thickness of 100 microns (0.004"). On equipment to be stored for many months exposed to rain, sun and snow, it is recommended that a 200 micron (0.008") film of Strippable coating be applied in two coats, drying one hour between coats. This is a water based compound and should be protected from freezing. Recommended storage temperature is 10oC-32oC.
Try to avoid 'feather edges' or areas where it is applied thinly. In order to achieve a defined edge it may help to apply masking tape, roller up to and over the tape and remove tape while Our Peelable coatings Peelable coating is still wet. |
Repair: |
If the Our Peelable coating film rips or tears, the flap may be lifted and resealed by applying a fresh wet coat to the underside and resealing. Alternatively, cut away flap and re-apply fresh coating, it will bond to itself. |
External Weather Resistance: |
Long-term exposure to sunlight will cause premature deterioration and brittleness of the film. Exposure to water after the film is dried will soften the film but it will recover once it dries. Avoid traffic over the wet or while the film is wet. If components are to be stored externally for several weeks we recommend the application of acrylic topcoat which will protect for 12 months and more. |
Drying Time: |
It is critical that Our Peelable coating film is allowed to cure dry. Drying time will vary according to humidity, temperature and weather condition. The evaporation of water will be speeded by air movement and warmth supplied by natural and mechanical means. |
Adhesion: |
| Our Peelable coatings is a temporary protective Peelable coating and adhesion is low. |
Process: |
Our Peelable coatings once completely dry are resistant to water and solvent and acts as a mask against sprayed emulsion paints, lacquers, oil or grease and water. |
Removal: |
The dry Our Peelable coatings strippable coating film can be easily removed either by hand stripping or other means. Our Peelable coatings are thermoplastic. Do not try to remove in freezing conditions. Our Peelable coatings becomes brittle in freezing condition. |
Clean Up: |
Our Peelable coating is a water-based product and you can clean spray equipment and brushes with water. Do this immediately before
peelable coating starts to dry. |
Coverage: |
