Protective Peelable Coating For Shower Stall, Whirl Pool & Bath Tub, Tubcoat, TubProtect Introduction:

According to industry data, 70% of tubs are damaged during construction and require repair before the home can be sold.

Our tub protection  peelable coatings protects tubs, whirlpools and shower stalls against scratches, abrasions and job site dirt and grime. Easy-to-apply, the water-based coating cures to a durable, easy-to-remove "protective skin." One gallon covers approximately two standard 5' tubs.
Use for protecting Showers, Bathtubs, Laminates, Polished stone and Non-Porous surfaces. Protects against scratches, nicks, paint overspray, miscellaneous damage, provides reliable protection during the construction process. Peels off easily when the surface is no longer subjected to construction damage

If you have ever walked a construction job, you have seen the tub used as a trash can and the staining and scratching that results from this practice. Naturally, the homeowner will focus on this and carefully examine the tub for damage to add to the punch list.

Description:

TubCoat  is applied shortly after the tub is installed. Once the home is built and the final cleanup is scheduled, the protective coating is peeled away in one piece to form a bag enclosing all trash and debris, revealing a tub in showroom condition! TubCoat  virtually abolishes tub repairs and reduces cleanup costs. Also, since all paint overspray is on the TubCoat  coating, you eliminate the use of harsh flammable solvents to remove the overspray. Many of these solvents can dull and weaken fiberglass or acrylic surfaces.

General Chemical Corp.?s protective Peelable coating TubCoat  is a strippable coating engineered for use on a bathtub and wide variety of surfaces. Typical applications include where a temporary protective coating is desired to protect the surface form damage, scratches ,chipping and form exterior and interior environment. The application of TubCoat  coatings will protect surfaces from paint overspray or damage during manufacturing and shipping. TubCoat  represents the ultimate in non-solvent, water borne, strippable coatings. TubCoat  does not contain VOCs.

For Bathtub Manufacturers
1. Place 3 - 5lb Olympic style barbell weights in the tub. (90 degree outside edge - not rounded) Rigidly mount the tub on a random vibration table. Conduct a resonance vibration test using ASTM D 999 Method C in frequency range of 5-300Hz (See Section 9.3.2 for octaves per minute). Passing is 1 hour with no observed damage. Test to simulate shipping damage from plumbing fittings being placed in the tub prior to shipment to job site.
2. Must stop a 6" drywall knife when dropped on the blade's corner from 8 feet above the tub bottom. Test is to simulate the clumsy dry-waller.
3. Place a 1 1/4" drywall screw on the tub bottom. Perform ANSI Z124.1 section 4.4 (approximately) directly on top of the screw, Under full load turn the fixture 3 times. There should be no damage from the screw. Test to simulate clumsy dry-waller.

Application is easy to brush on. Brushes can be cleaned with soap and water. TubCoat  is normally used as received, it can be applied by air or airless spray, roll coating, or brushing. Typically it is sprayed on the fixture using an airless sprayer .Apply product evenly to produce a dry film thickness of approximately 7-10 mils or wet film thickness of 14 to 20 mils.. Drying time is dependent on temperature. At 70?F, product will dry in approximately 24 hours. You can enhance drying time by air movement and other suitable means.

Before applying TubCoat_, carefully examine the fixture for any pre-existing damage. If damaged, contact the builder or owner before proceeding with installation of the coating. Do not apply to porous surfaces. Do not apply if temperature is below 45?F.

TubCoat  may also be diluted at the rate of one to four ounces of water per quart. The sprayed coating dries, depending on the film thickness, in 30 minutes to 4 hours. TubCoat  is applied to yielding a dry film from one to ten mils (.001" to .010") thick. The coating is resistant to attack by solvents used in paint. Application temperatures range from 120? F. to no lower than 45? F.

I used your TubCoat  and now when I'm removing it, it's bringing pieces of the tub with it and only removes in small pieces at a time. Is there a safer more efficient way to do this, while protecting the tub?
TubCoat  if applied at 10 mils wet (5 mils dry film) can be removed by prying the film and slowly removing by peeling. The fact that this film breaks for you on removal is ether it is not cured, should be transparent blue film, or applied way too thin. If too thin than fill the tub with warm water and let it stand until the film starts to turn whitish. Wet soaking towels placed on the film can also be used. When the film turns light blue drain the water and use a damp towel to roll the thin film off.
Removal: TubCoat 1600 can be removed by peeling.

"Before we started using TubCoat_ we had (problems with) scratches, rust stains, discoloration and repairs. With TubCoat_ our problems? disappeared. It is a great product."

"?As an experiment, I coated a highly polished cistern cover with your TubCoat_. The cover was exposed to the tropical sun, tropical rains and the abuse of stucco installers, masons and painters. After 12 months, I peeled the "protective skin" off (the cover)?it looked as good as the day it was installed. I was truly impressed? now I know the tubs and showers we protect (with TubCoat_) are perfect."

"I was searching for a product that would save me money and I found it with your 'TubCoat_'. I am a general contractor and we build multifamily developments in North Carolina and we install quite a lot of fiberglass tub/shower units. During construction these fiberglass units were getting cut, nicked, and abused and I couldn't find anything to protect the finish surface and would end up paying hundreds of dollars per unit to have touch up fiberglass work done. The above mentioned product was brushed on an left to cure and weeks later when it was peeled off we saw a reduction in the amount of touch up needed by at least 98%. Thanks for the help!"
