| General Chemical Corp.’s Stripaway 4580 is a peelable coating engineered for use on acrylic substrates like bathtubs, enamels, acrylic lenses (automobiles, helicopters), metals and wide variety of other surfaces. Typical applications include temporary protection for surfaces form damage, scratches, chipping and from exterior and interior environments.. The application of Stripaway 4580 coatings will protect surfaces from paint overspray or damage during manufacturing, storage and shipping. Stripaway 4580 represents the ultimate in non-solvent, water borne, strippable/peelable coatings. Stripaway 4580 does not contain VOCs. |

Stripaway 4580 is normally used as received. It can be applied by spray, roll or brush . Stripaway 4580 may also be diluted at the rate of one to four ounces of water per gallon or as needed for proper application. The sprayed coating dries, depending on the film thickness, in 30 minutes to 4 hours. Stripaway 4580 should be applied to yield a dry film from one to ten mils (.001" to .010") thick. The coating, when totally dry, is resistant to water and some solvents used in paint. Application temperatures range from 120º F. for fast force cure to no lower than 45º F. Stripaway 4580 cures upon water evaporation. Faster cure can be realized by placement of air fans to remove the water from the coating. The coating when applied is milky but when cured is totally transparent. The milky appearance is indicative of water presence in the coating. Brushes, rollers and spray equipment can be cleaned with water immediately after coating application. The coating becomes water resistant when clear . |

Removal: |

Stripaway 4580 is removed by peeling. Simply, pry a piece of coating in one corner and lift.

Water Resistant Stripaway 4580 presents no fire hazard as received, during, or after application.

Stripaway 4580 is formulated to exclude ingredients that are deleterious to the painting process, such as silicones, or to the water wash system, such as foam generating or foam stabilizing ingredients. |

Operating Guidelines: |
|
|
| |
|
When applying, use the same protection as used while applying paint. The booth ventilation stem should be operating while the material is being sprayed. |
|
Chemical goggles and impervious gloves should be worn when handling Stripaway 4580. |
|
Use of non-sparking metal equipment is advised when scraping to remove booth coatings, to avoid fire hazards from the accumulated paint. |
|

First Time Application: |
|
|
| |
I. Cleaning of Equipment: |
|
|
|
|
| |
To clean the pressure pot, airless equipment, spray guns, or spray lines: |
|
|
|
|
| |
|
Flush equipment and lines with the current paint thinner (toluene, xylene, or mek), |
|
Follow with a water reducible solvent, such as butyl cellosolve. This will help to remove any solvent residue. |
|
Thoroughly rinse with water. Making sure that all solvent and paint residues are removed. |
|
|
|
|
|

II. Cleaning of spray booth walls: |
|
|
|
|
| |
To clean all surfaces where Stripaway 4580 is to be applied: |
|
|
|
|
| |
|
Clean surface with butyl-cellosolve type cleaner. |
|
Remove all previous peelable coatings, oils, dirt, and solvent residue from the surface.
NOTE: You do not have to do this cleaning step to have Stripaway 4580 peel or rinse off the surfaces. This procedure can be eliminated after the second and all subsequent applications. |

Stripaway 4580 can now be applied. |
